Credit Card Betting Sites
A credit card is a bank-issued payment tool that lets you borrow funds for daily purchases and online payments, up to a preset limit the bank sets. Credit card betting sites are online sportsbooks that offer you the option to deposit funds instantly or almost instantly into your account using Visa, Mastercard, and American Express cards.
These platforms give sports bettors the most familiar and traditional way to transfer money directly from an established financial institution into a real-money betting wallet. Credit card deposits provide a number of important operational features to modern sportsbooks:
- Funds added within less than 5 seconds
- Secure verification process with 3D Secure
- Automated fraud monitoring
- Worldwide acceptance
In this guide, I review the best credit card bookmakers, examine deposit speeds and withdrawal options, research cash advance fees, as well as regional rules for card betting sites.

Find the Top Betting Sites HereWhich Are The Top Betting Sites That Accept Credit Cards?
There are many leading online bookmakers that accept credit cards and operate in regulated and offshore markets. Acceptance depends heavily on the operator’s licensing, region, and internal policies. Below are five major online platforms that historically support credit cards, especially in North American markets. Continue reading through these bookmaker reviews, and learn more about each online gambling platform.

Bovada

The brand accepts credit card payments using Visa and Mastercard, alongside crypto and other alternative payment methods. Withdrawals via card are limited, but bank transfers and crypto options are available. They are very popular to their players, and Bovada is widely used in the US offshore market.
The credit card deposit is a piece of cake on its mobile app, which in general performs reliably and provides equally fast access as the desktop version. If you need to access the support team for questions regarding your account or your payment method, you can do it via ticketing and live chat.

Draft Kings

DraftKings accepts Visa and Mastercard for deposits while encouraging bank transfers and digital wallets. Withdrawals to cards are rare because the brand operates under strict US regulations. You can use ACH and online banking for withdrawals, two options that are widely available.
Deposits with credit cards and withdrawals on DraftKings’ mobile app is as smooth as it can get, since it is one of the top-performing in the US market. It provides terrific security, seamless biometrics, in-play betting, and responsible gambling tools. The 24/7 customer support services include live chat and help-desk escalation if you want to know more about your credit card payment options.

Fanduel

FanDuel’s attractive platform accepts Visa and Mastercard for deposits, but you have to be aware that some banks decline transactions. Withdrawals on this US-regulated top sports betting site rely on ACH bank transfer, PayPal, or prepaid card methods, since credit card withdrawals are not allowed.
Credit cards are an eligible payment method for any of FanDuel’s promotional offers. The offers are frequently updated, either for new customers or for recurring customers, making credit cards a convenient and fast way of payment option for everyone. Responsible gambling controls, verification systems, and secure payments maintain compliance, while the customer support team is always there to assist.

BetOnline

Use your credit card and take advantage of an amazing welcome package that new players get when they register at BetOnline. The brand serves international and US offshore markets with a variety of payment options, and major credit cards are accepted as the main FIAT spearhead in their cashier page. The good news are that they accept higher deposit limits than many competitors.
You can’t withdraw with credit cards, though. You need crypto or wire transfers for this. You can use either their 100% mobile-friendly platform or the desktop version to explore your other payment of an established brand, famous for providing the best 24/7 customer support.

What Is A Credit Card?
It’s the most convenient and widespread way to borrow funds for purchases, betting deposits included, without paying on the spot or using money from your bank account straight away. This part is the simple one. The most complex part is that the bank lends you money, and each institution has its own rules for claiming it back.
The terms and conditions vary from card to card. You will use two different credit cards for the same deposit of 100 euros, but the interest rate you will be charged if you are late with the payment will differ, depending on the bank’s set rate. The payment deadline will differ, depending on the day your bill is issued.
Funds added to a credit card bookmaker aren’t as quick as withdrawing them. Deposits are instant, while withdrawals run slower. A withdrawal can take anywhere from a few hours to 3 business days, since the systems used by bookmakers and the banking system are not always aligned. Fees can also be imposed, although operators have absorbed them in recent years.
Are they safe?
Yes, they are because credit cards utilise encryption and 3D Secure passcodes, and are constantly monitored for fraud. There are instances when something goes wrong, but worldwide, banks protect cardholders against unauthorised transactions and charges.
The most important safety measures in credit card bookmakers include:
- End-to-end SSL encryption for betting deposits
- One-time 3D Secure codes sent to mobile devices
- Protection policies against fraudulent transactions.
What types of credit cards are there?
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover are the four main types of credit cards that cover nearly every need. These four networks dominate the market, with Visa and Mastercard as pioneers of the industry, enjoying widespread acceptance.
You can get one of these two directly through banks, not by the network itself. American Express, also known as Amex, and Discover, the most limited of the four, work differently. These networks issue cards directly to cardholders, which is why fewer sportsbooks accept them.
What Are The Credit Card Betting Sites?
Credit card betting sites are online sportsbooks that accept Visa, Mastercard, and sometimes American Express or Discover as a deposit method. They will credit your account instantly through the same network your bank already uses.
- 0 fees for deposit
- Instant deposits with 2-3 taps
- Withdrawal in 2 seconds
- 1-3 days to receive funds
- 1 verification in your wallet
Are there any hidden fees on these brands?
There are no hidden fees for credit card deposits on the best bookies. Any cost you may have to deal with, although it’s extremely unlikely, comes from the bank: cash advance fees, exchange fees, interest rates. None of these is related to the deposit process, and there are also betting caps, which are again related to the bank.
You can’t borrow as much as you want, but it depends on the financial profile the bank has created for you. When you get a credit card, you know the highest amount you can spend when using it. The majority of cardholders have a cap between 500 and 1,500 euros per month, although this depends on the bank, the country, and the cardholder.
When it comes to withdrawals, sportsbooks that don’t support card withdrawals route payouts through bank transfer instead. This means that the bank may charge you for incoming payments, depending on their own rules. If the withdrawal goes through your credit card, then there will be no charges at all.
How can you use credit cards for online betting?
It’s easy to use credit cards for betting purposes by entering the required details in the operator’s cashier section. Fill in the 16-digit number of your card, the expiration date and the CVV, along with your name and surname, as stated on the card.
You can save your verified card inside the cashier. This way, you can make your next deposit with one tap in the section, since your transaction will be pre-verified. Visa and Mastercard are the two dominant card organisations worldwide, used by almost all bookmakers, while American Express and Discover are accepted on selected betting sites.
What are the withdrawal times for a credit card on a betting site?
Withdrawals usually take up to 1 day, but in some cases they can take up to 5 business days. The bookmaker can approve a payout very fast on its end, but the problem is that the card network has to go through complicated procedures before you see your funds in your bank account.
If speed is what matters more for you, then you can try a few alternative ways to fund your sportsbook account. An e-wallet withdrawal is quicker than a credit card withdrawal, most of the times landing between 1-4 hours.
Do credit cards require verification at a bookmaker?
No, credit cards don’t require a specific identity verification process for sportsbook deposits. It’s the issuing banks that are responsible for performing the mandatory real-time security checks, in addition to the CCV.
You only head into the bookmaker’s cashier section and pick your credit card for adding funds. Fill in the required details, such as the cardholder's name and surname, card number and expiry date. Then add the CVV, which is the 3-digit (sometimes 4-digit) security code on the back of the card, used to prevent fraud. That’s all. Bookmakers’ anti-fraud filters also may check that your registered billing address matches your betting account.
What alternative payment methods will I find at a sportsbook?
E-wallets such as Skrill, Neteller, debit cards, cryptocurrencies, instant mobile payment solutions like Google Pay and Apple Pay, vouchers such as Paysafe, and direct bank wire transfers are some of the alternative payment options available in a sportsbook.
This means that if credit card betting isn’t available at your preferred bookie, you will definitely find a number of methods that suit your needs.
Which Credit Card Networks Do Betting Sites Accept?
Visa and Mastercard have the broadest international presence and acceptance, while American Express and Discover are more limited. These are the four major card networks, and, according to their popularity, sportsbooks accept them differently. The differences mainly concern operator support, geographic availability, and how card transactions are processed.
- Visa as the most popular option
- Mastercard gains ground
- AmEx with limited betting acceptance
- Discover focuses on North America
Visa Betting Sites
Its international network gives bettors access to credit and debit card deposits across a large number of sportsbooks and regions. This makes Visa one of the most widely supported card networks for online betting.
Visa betting sites support instant deposits without extra fees, as well as withdrawals at no cost most of the time. Some jurisdictions, such as the UK, prohibit the use of credit cards for betting purposes, so Visa debit cards remain the relevant card option for licensed operators in that market.
Mastercard Betting Sites
Since 2024, it has gained ground in the international betting industry. Mastercard is widely supported by thousands of online sportsbooks thanks to its wide coverage. Credit and debit Mastercard deposits follow the same basic cashier process as other card payment options.
Its advantage is the expansion it achieved over the last couple of years, operating across different currencies and banking markets, making it a common payment option for international betting sites. Restrictions apply at the country or operator level, similarly to Visa.
American Express Betting Sites
It has a smaller betting footprint than Visa and Mastercard because its acceptance at betting sites depends on the platforms that support, or not, betting transactions. This is the reason why American Express has payment fees when the sportsbooks permit transactions, and availability varies by county and card issuer. Amex cardholders must distinguish the difference between sportsbook acceptance and general online merchant acceptance.
Discover Betting Sites
This is a platform with a strong presence in North America, but with the smallest footprint worldwide compared to its other three competitors. Its acceptance at bookmakers depends heavily on the operator’s market coverage and payment processes. US bettors can find Discover betting sites, but this is not the case with international players, who have fewer options than with Visa or Mastercard.
Why Should I Consider Betting Sites That Accept Credit Cards?
Each country and region has its own rules. From the total ban in the UK, Brazil, Sweden, and Ireland, to withdrawal bans in 9 US states and Germany, access to credit card sportsbooks is not always the same.
- 30+ countries have different credit card betting rules
- 9 US states restrict or ban credit card deposits for legal online betting
- Norway has blocked gambling card payments since 2010
- Brazil's ban started in January 2025 and Sweden's ban in April 2026
Below, you will learn everything you need to know about credit card betting in different countries and regions worldwide.
Credit card betting in the US
Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted at US online sportsbooks, but only for deposits. Credit card withdrawals are rare. Some states such as Tennessee, Iowa, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Oregon, and Vermont have completely restricted the use of a credit card for online betting deposits. Illinois and Virginia joined the list a few months ago. Fees vary by state too, and some banks treat these deposits as cash advances.
Credit card regulations in the United Kingdom
Betting with credit cards is completely forbidden in the United Kingdom. The ban doesn’t cover only online betting activity, but also retail, as part of the country’s “safer-gambling” framework. UK bookmakers offer Visa debit cards, bank transfers, or digital wallets instead. All operators that run their businesses under a UK Gambling Commission licence follow this rule.
Credit card betting in Canada
This is a region where no country ban applies, and bettors can use their cards to wager. But this doesn’t mean that all credit card betting sites accept it. Acceptance shifts by province and by bank instead.
Plenty of sportsbooks allow credit card payments, though individual banks and financial institutions sometimes block gambling transactions on their own. Quebec and Ontario run the most permissive policies among the best bookmakers in Canada.
Other restricted or regulated countries
There are plenty of restrictions around the world regarding credit card betting, with Sweden being one of the latest countries to join the list of bans. The regulatory change took effect in April 2026, while Brazil’s ban on credit cards took effect on the first day of 2025.
Australia restricted credit cards and crypto for online betting in June 2024. Norway has had a block on card payments since 2010. Germany prohibits bookmakers from accepting credit card deposits. Yet, credit cards still work as one of the most convenient ways to bet globally, and operators licensed in Curaçao, Kahnawake, Panama, Costa Rica, and elsewhere accept them worldwide.

Fraud protection by banking institutions

What Are The Alternatives To Credit Cards?

The detailed table below displays other deposit methods and withdrawal options.
| Payment Method | Deposit Speed | Withdrawal Speed | Fees | Privacy |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Credit Cards | Instant | 1-3 days | No | Low |
| PayPal | Instant | 1-24 hours | Medium | High |
| Skrill | Instant | 1-24 hours | Medium | High |
| Bank Transfer | 1-3 days | 3-5 days | No | Low |
| Apple Pay | Instant | N/A | No | Low |
Can I Claim Bonuses With Credit Cards?
Bonuses and credit cards go together in betting sites. It’s rare for credit cards to be ineligible for bonuses and promotions on online bookmakers, although rules vary by region and operator.
In Germany, for example, bookmakers want to remain compliant with the regulations and don’t apply betting bonuses, despite the fact that credit cards are allowed. The problem is that the country imposes strict consumer protection rules and wants the payment method to be directly tied to their personal identity and a verified bank account. Credit and debit cards don’t always follow this trail; therefore, the operators may exclude them from bonus eligibility.
Bonus type
Description
Welcome Bonuses
Gifted to new players when registering for a new sports betting or casino account. These bonuses are usually deposit matches or bonus bets, which most credit card betting sites include as eligible unless restricted by local bookies' rules.
Reload Bonuses
Recurring players receive partial or full match bonuses after registering with the bookmaker. They are considered recurring customers, and the focus is on retaining their engagement.
Free Bets
Credit card deposits are available for free bets, which apply either to new bettors or recurring players. They are usually tied to specific high-profile events or are offered in weekly promotions.
Cashback Offers
Credit cards typically qualify for these offers. They help players get back a portion of their stake, usually per week or month, retain their engagement with the bookmaker and reduce their losses over a specific period.
Loyalty Rewards
VIP tiers and loyalty points may benefit frequent bettors, though availability differs widely. For example, Caesars Sportsbook offers exceptional Caesars Rewards to VIP players.
Should I Bet on Sportsbooks Using Credit Cards?
Credit card betting is the most convenient and mainstream way to bet, if you are looking for simplicity, speed, security, and reliability. Credit cards are the easiest way to fund a betting account, mainly because of the network support behind the procedure.
Credit card betting has been backed by sportsbooks for decades, with the banking infrastructure providing unparalleled security. Deposits are instant, taking 2 to 5 seconds from selecting the card method in the bookie’s cashier section until your funds appear. The maximum limits are relatively high, sometimes up to €10,000, depending on the bettor's credit profile.
3D Secure and biometric authorisation add an extra layer of security in your transactions, since you need to verify your identity once and from that point you can make your deposits even quicker. Fraud detection is almost immediate and covers every transaction.
Withdrawals are the dark spot, mostly because restrictions exist in many countries. You can’t withdraw winnings directly to your credit card in Germany, the UK, Ireland, Sweden, and Brazil, while it’s expensive and time-consuming in the US bookmakers.
Credit card betting is a fast and secure option for deposits, but sometimes not for withdrawals. Only a few other methods can beat it, though, thanks to its convenience and acceptance in the betting world.
Frequently Asked Questions
You can consider Visa and Mastercard as the best, because they are the most widely accepted card issuing systems in the world. Of course, the acceptance varies per country, that’s why American Express or Discover are available to many regions.
Yes, they count toward bonuses, since almost all bookmakers accept credit cards as a mainstream and legit payment method. The bonus eligibility may be unavailable when local regulations restrict it, but it has nothing to do with the operators. Credit cards usually qualify for welcome bonuses and promotions.
It is safe to store your credit card on betting sites, especially if the operator is reputable. Encrypted forms and PCI-compliant storage protect stored data.
Deposits are almost always fee-free, and the banks also don’t charge for adding funds to your betting account. When it comes to withdrawing money, it’s rare for a bookmaker to charge you, but you may see banking fees that can apply as “cash advance”, “interest rate”, or “exchange charges”.
Of course you can use them, since there are no such restrictions. You can also use multiple credit cards from different issuers, if you want. Most online bookmakers allow as many cards as you want, and the only thing that players must be aware of is the possible requirement of verification or limits.
Contact your bank first, as financial institutions may block betting transactions due to policies, insufficient funds, or risk controls. If the payment is not stopped by the bank, the bookmaker’s customer support team can explain why a deposit is pending or declined.
There are countries that prohibit the use of credit cards, such as Norway, Sweden, Brazil, and the UK. In the US, some states don’t allow deposits with credit cards to American bookmakers, while other countries, such as Germany, don’t allow withdrawals.
There is only one exception to this rule: when the bookmaker doesn’t offer this withdrawal method, either due to regulations or because it's unavailable. In that case, your winnings will be added to your bank account via a wire transfer.
