West Ham Retains Multi-Million BoyleSports Deal Thanks To Loophole

Jul 16, 2026

Updated on: Jul 16, 2026

  • The club keeps its lucrative shirt sponsorship with BoyleSports.
  • West Ham gains a massive advantage as the multi-million deal cushions the burden of relegation.
  • Premier League clubs lose around ÂŁ80 million collectively due to the betting sponsorship ban.
A football shirt with sponsor and a contract with a loophole

As the Premier League moves towards a new era, with betting sponsors banned from front-of-shirt advertising, one club can smile, although they were relegated. West Ham will play in the Championship after losing its EPL status due to poor performance this season.

However, some good news emerged for the London club, since they will start the new league with the same sponsor and a pocket full of money. Thanks to a regulation loophole, BoyleSports will remain West Ham’s main sponsor, injecting cash into the club which wants to return to the top league.

The Exemption That Protects Top Revenue

West Ham and BoyleSports announced a three-year shirt sponsorship deal last summer. During the season, Premier League member clubs agreed to a voluntary ban in order to eliminate gambling logos from matchday shirt fronts, starting this August.

Many Premier League clubs are struggling to find non-betting alternatives willing to pay premium sponsorship rates. This results in a collective estimated loss of income of up to ÂŁ80 million, mostly because the betting companies were willing to pay more for a place in front of an EPL shirt.

West Ham no longer belongs to this elite 20-club group. Therefore, their relegation to the EFL Championship means those top-flight restrictions no longer apply to them. The English Football League operates under a different regulatory framework that permits front-of-shirt betting brands, and the Londoners took advantage of it.

The Benefits Of Overcoming The Ban

Losing their place in the Premier League is a major financial blow for West Ham. Losing its sponsor would be catastrophic as well. The London club confirmed the continuation of the deal with BoyleSports for as long as they play in the Championship, a move that will inject millions of pounds straight into their bank accounts.

West Ham retains elite-tier cash flow, which cushions the financial implications of relegation. The club enters the second tier with a substantial financial safety net, heavily funding their tactical bid to secure an immediate return to the top flight.
