The renowned betting site will strengthen and expand William Hill’s presence in Spain, offering extended sports betting and casino content.

William Hill acquired Mr Green for around €272 million in October 2018, and the deal was finalized in February 2019. Mr Green was previously owned by MRG Group, a former Stockholm-listed igaming company.

UK Operator on the Lookout for New Market Innings

Patrick Jonker, William Hill’s international managing director and CEO of Mr Green, stated that they will offer to the Spanish market one of the best betting and casino brands in the industry.

The UK betting group hit the nail on the head with this acquisition, having, as a result, a stronger international presence and a more complete gambling profile in different countries.

The announcement came a week after DGOJ reported the second-quarter figures for Spain’s online betting market that confirmed the upward trend of the domestic online gambling revenue, reaching an almost 18% increase amounting to €209m, compared to last year's numbers for the same quarter.
