KSA and UKGC collaborate on regulatory best practices

The regulators will work together by exchanging information, focusing on regulatory best practices in the gambling sector.

This cooperation will comprise endeavours to combat gambling addiction and prevent malicious acts like money laundering and terrorist financing.

KSA chairman René Jansen stated: “The MoU forms a good basis for sharing knowledge, cooperation and a smooth exchange of information. A clear signal is also given to providers of games of chance that cooperation is taking place at an international level. Online games of chance move across borders. That is why it is important that regulators work together.”

This new memorandum of understanding comes before the launch of the new gambling legislation in the Netherlands, as it has already been delayed thrice.

The Remote Gambling Act (KOA) was voted on the 1st of April 2021, as KSA initiated a licensing process for operators in order to offer their services within the newly regulated market, expecting to issue about 35 licenses.

Operators meeting the proper requirements will obtain a license for online gambling scheduled to be launched no earlier than 1 October 2021, the date on which they will be allowed to begin running their businesses.
