Drake Loses $700k In UFC Fight Betslip

Canadian rapper Drake’s curse continued as he lost $700k after placing a bet on UFC's 297 main event fight of Sean Strickland vs Dricus Du Plessis.

Drake backed Strickland to be the bout winner at 1.97 odds and would have received an estimated payout of $1,379,000. Unlucky for him, his prediction did not come to fruition, and Du Plessis emerged victorious.

A Brief Look At Drake's High-Stakes Losses

Bettors following high-profile sports wagers are likely familiar with the "Drake Curse". Punters believe that everything Drake touches turns into a loss. From Israel Adesanya to Kamaru Usman, any athlete endorsed or wagered by the Canadian artist seems to experience a surprising defeat.

In 2023, Drake bet on Jake Paul to knock out Tommy Fury, but Fury won the fight on a split decision. The rapper had announced that he had placed a $400,000 bet on Paul to win the bout. Later the same year, he put a $500k bet at Adesanya to win Strickland but was stunningly defeated by a unanimous decision at UFC 293, losing his middleweight title in the process.

His most infamous wager was at the 2022 World Cup Final, where he wagered $1,000,000 on Argentina to win against France. Ultimately, Argentina won; however, it was over a penalty shootout and not the first 90 minutes, which meant the bet was lost.

It may seem doom and gloom, but "Drizzy" has his fair share of winnings. In Super Bowl LVII, he won $1,455,000 after betting $700k on the Kansas City Chiefs to win the championship. Meanwhile, on the Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia fight, he earned $1,150,000.

The million-dollar question is, will the curse remain, or will the "6 God" break free?
