Russia wants to make a name as a regular in the continent’s best teams and prove that in Euro 2020. After reaching the quarter-finals in the 2018 World Cup, expectations are high for Alexander Golovin, Artyom Dzyuba and the manager Stanislav Cherchesov. An easy qualification to the tournament did not convince bookmakers which rank the Russia Euro 2020 team as the third favorite to win Group B. Russia Euro 2021 Odds & Predictions
Sportsbooks have Russia as an underdog for winning Euro 2021 with odds around 67.00 (66/1), equal to Switzerland and above Austria. Except for the last World Cup, the Russians have failed to make an impression in a major tournament since 2008. Furthermore, most players of the Russia 2020 Euro do not have international experience, which affects the odds. Talismanic players like Akinfeev and Ignasevich have retired from the team, and it is unclear if the replacements are up-to-par.
So, is there a bright side for the Russians in Euro 2021? Yes, as several factors can contribute to a successful tournament. First and foremost, it will play two of the three group games in St. Petersburg. That could be an advantage compared to Belgium and Finland, which will play all games away. Also, the run on the qualifiers was pretty impressive, with eight wins in ten matches. Check our picks and predictions for the Russia Euro 2020 group.
✔️ Group B ⏩ Russia to finish second @3.40 (12/5) odds
✔️ Euro 2020 ⏩ Russia to reach the quarter-finals @3.20 (11/5) odds
✔️ Russia ⏩ to win or draw vs. Belgium @2.25 (5/4) odds
Russia Euro 2020 Fixtures & Schedule
In Group B, Russia is drawn with Belgium, Denmark and Finland. According to bookies, the Belgians are clear favorites to win the group, with the Danish the most likely team to finish second. The latter will also play all games at Copenhagen, which can be decisive. That includes the Denmark - Russia Euro 2020 game that can very well dictate second place. From an odds perspective, Belgium has 1.72 (8/11) for finishing first. Denmark is at 3.75 (11/4), and Russia is at 5.00 (4/1). Finland ranks in last place at 17.00 (16/1).
In a tournament like Euro 2020, it is essential to know the pairings in the knockout phase before wagering. The good news about the Russia Euro 2020 squad is that if it finishes second, the opponent in the Round of 16 will most likely not be a giant. That is because the runner-up from Group B will meet with the runner-up of Group A. Hence, Turkey or Switzerland are the most probable opponents. A third-place finish could also mean a qualification if Russia is among the best four teams. In that case, it will face the winner of Group F or E, which include France, Germany, Portugal or Spain.
Russia's Group Matches | Date | Venue |
Belgium vs. Russia | 12th June 2021 / 21:00 CET | Krestovsky Stadium, Saint Petersburg |
Finland vs. Russia | 16th June 2021 / 15:00 CET | Krestovsky Stadium, Saint Petersburg |
Russia vs. Denmark | 21st June 2021 / 21:00 CET | Parken Stadium, Copenhagen |
Can Russia win Group B
That is a long shot if we consider the bookmakers’ odds. Group B has a strong frontrunner; Belgium and Denmark emerge as the second strongest team. Updated prices for Cherchesov’s players are the following:
⏩ To Win Group @5.00 (4/1)
⏩ To Qualify Group @1.33 (1/3)
⏩ To Place 2nd @3.40 (12/5)
⏩ Not to Qualify Group @4.50 (7/2)
If the Russians manage to grab a qualification spot, the knockout phase has opponents of multiple levels. That depends on the position that each team will finish, and we provide them in full:
Russia's Group Place | Last-16 Probable Opponents |
1st | 3rd place Group A (Italy, Turkey, Wales, Switzerland) / 3rd place Group D (England, Croatia, Scotland, Czech Republic) / 3rd place Group C (Netherlands, Ukraine, Austria, North Macedonia) |
2nd | Winner Group D (England, Croatia, Scotland, Czech Republic) |
3rd* | Winner Group B (Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Russia) / Winner Group E (Spain, Sweden, Poland, Slovakia) |
*If Group B gives one of the best 3rd-placed teams to advance to the Last-16.
As you can see, finishing first in the Russia Euro 2020 group translates to a lucky pairing next. One of the best-third placed teams of Groups A, D, E or F awaits, and they seem pretty manageable aside from the last one. But even a second-place finish looks favorable, as it will pair Russia with Turkey or Switzerland, according to the odds. While no walk in the park, it does not look insurmountable. Finally, a third-place finish will likely signal the end of the road for the Russians. The opponents in such a scenario are Germany, France, Portugal or Spain.
✔️Our prediction: Sportsbook and bettors look convinced that the best thing Russia can do is finish third. Even if it qualifies, the odds for that selection are very low. But if Russia takes advantage of the Krestovsky Stadium, it could challenge for second place. This outcome pays at 3.40 (12/5).
What odds & bets bookies offer for Russia
You can find a variety of bets and markets for Russia in the Euro 2021. While winning the trophy seems unlikely, other selections can prove themselves profitable. And there is a couple of players to push the Russian side to overachieving.
Aleksandr Golovin (36 caps, five goals) is the rising star of Russian football. A regular at AS Monaco, he stands out for his playmaking and scoring skills. One of the few players with international experience, he will lead the efforts of the Russia Euro 2020 squad. Coming from a successful season with The Monégasques, he wants to keep up his form in the tournament.
Captain Artem Dzyuba (50 caps, 29 goals) will spearhead the offensive line of the Russians. He has been in top form recently, scoring 22 goals this season with Zenit St. Petersburg. Dzyuba was also the top goalscorer of the national team in the 2018 World Cup. If Russia pulls off a miracle and progresses far in the competition, Dzyuba could end up as the top goalscorer. This selection pays at 101.00 (100/1).
✔️Our prediction: If Euro 2020 Russia team manages to finish second in the group, the road to the quarter-finals is within reach. This market has odds of 3.20 (11/5), and it can return high value.

The Key Players & Tactics
There is some decent quality to the Russian team, but the issue is how balanced the squad will be. In terms of goalkeeping, Anton Shunin is more than adequate. In front of him, Mario Fernandes and Georgi Dzhikiya will form the first line of defense. Aleksandr Golovin and Anton Miranchuk will try to dominate the midfield and assist the forward of the Euro 2020 Russia team, Artem Dzyuba.
Looking at the last official matches of Russia, in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers, we can get a good impression of the playing style. The formation Cherchesov prefers is 4-2-3-1, which can turn to 3-5-2 if the match demands it. Russia scored two victories against Malta and Slovenia but lost against Slovakia. In the last game, while dominating the possession and having more shots on target, they failed to capitalize on them.
The Probable Lineup
Starting with a 4-2-3-1 structure, the manager has made up his mind on most positions. Anton Shunin will be the goalkeeper, with Georgi Dzhikiya and Andrei Semyonov the center-backs. Mario Fernandes and Fyodor Kudryashov will cover the right and left defensive flank, respectively. Magomed Ozdoyev and Roman Zobnin will act as defensive midfielders, connecting the lines in the Russia 2020 Euro team. Aleksandr Golovin, Aleksei Miranchuk and Daler Kuzyayev will coordinate the attacks and assist Artem Dzyuba in scoring some much-needed goals.
The Manager
Stanislav Cherchesov has a rich career as a footballer and an even richer one as a manager. Being the goalkeeper of Russia in the 1994 World Cup and Euro 1996, he took up coaching in 2004. The highlight of his career is reaching the quarter-finals in the 2018 World Cup with Russia. It is worth noting that he is the only coach reaching the knockout stages of a major tournament since the fall of the Soviet Union. Following a string of successes, the football federation renewed Cherchesov’s contract until December 2022. In 52 matches as Russia’s head coach, he has 22 wins, 12 draws and 18 losses.
It is no strange that we offer various Russia Euro 2020 daily and outright bets in such a prestigious tournament. What makes our recommended bookmakers different is the high odds and utmost integrity. Feel free to check them out.
