Betsson AB board has announced that it has begun a quest to find a replacement for Group Chief Executive Pontus Lindwall. Since the program “Back on Track” comes to an end, the board of directors believes that the company is in need of renewal. Lindwall was assigned the supervision of the aforementioned program when he was hired as CEO in 2017. After the program was completed, the group reported the second quarter of 2021 to be the best in terms of sales and earnings.
What were Lindwall's Achievements?
The Chairman of Betsson, Patrick Svensk, stated: “Pontus has played an invaluable role in Betsson’s successful development. When he took over as CEO in 2017, his mission was to strengthen the company’s position and create a solid platform for continued growth. That task has now been completed. We are grateful for all the good work Pontus Lindwall has done during these years and the strong foundation he has created for the future. Betsson has never been in a better position than today. The Board’s assessment is that it is a good opportunity to make a change in the position of CEO.”
Pontus Lindwall has led the development of the company for 25 years and is one of the industry's leading profiles in digital gambling. He was the CEO of Betsson from 1998 and held that position until 2011 when he was elected Chairman of the Board. He took up his most recent assignment as CEO in 2017.
