With H1 2021 already over, Entain reports a revenue of £1.77bn. That is a 12.2% growth despite a 34% drop in revenue from Germany because of the country’s online gambling regulation overhaul.
Challenges Couldn't Stop Entain Profits
Entain, sees an increase of 10.2% from what was noted as a “strong prior year comparative”; since, of the total revenue, £825.9m came from iGaming. That growth would have been 28% if not for Germany, where the strict new regulations have impacted the operators’ ability to bring in revenue. It is also worth noting that £751.1m came from sports betting, a growth of 55.4% due to the return of a full sporting calendar.
This is what Jette Nygaard-Andersen, Entain’s CEO, had to say about the results: “Entain’s platform continues to deliver. The quality and diversification of our businesses have enabled us to deliver our 22nd consecutive quarter of double-digit online growth while also making excellent progress on our strategic priorities.”
“This performance is not only a result of our industry-leading technology but also the hard work and dedication of our talented teams of people around the world, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank them,” she added.
After accounting for discontinued operations, taxes and numerous other expenses, Entain’s final profit was £194.2m, which was 129.9% more than in 2020.
