Formula 1 strikes a deal with PokerStars Sports, making the well-known bookmaker its official sports betting partner in Europe. The deal was arranged through the data rights partner, Interregional Sports Group (ISG), and is set to last until the end of 2023.
For every F1 season until 2023, the sportsbook will make use of European F1 broadcasts and trackside advertising to leverage content from Flutter Entertainment, which operates the Stars Group. PokerStars Sports has shown an interest in F1 because of the massive European audience it attracts.
PokerStars Targets MotorSports Fans
Tom Warren, the group marketing director at PokerStars Marketing, has verbalised the company’s excitement for the deal by stating: “Working with Formula 1 provides us with the opportunity to reach a fan base whose passion for sport goes way beyond motorsport. To be able to engage an audience of this size and yet focus just on the regions that are key to us makes this a very exciting proposition.”
The ISG joint chief executive, Tony Ragan, also made a comment on the partnership, saying: “We’re delighted to have reached this agreement with Flutter Group. Combining the worldwide appeal of PokerStars and this targeted approach in engaging fans with many similar traits as the PokerStars’ community is an incredible opportunity for innovation and further engagement between the two popular brands.”

A few years back, the number 1 poker room globally added a sports section called ‘Betstars’, which, in 2021, was rebranded to Pokerstars Sports. To be honest, reviewing the sportsbook left me with mixed feelings. On the one hand, being operated by the largest group in the world and holding several Tier 1 licenses means that as a site it can definitely be trusted. There are hundreds of markets available to choose from in football and basketball, alongside multiple special bets. I also find the Spin and Bet feature very intriguing, where you can improve your odds up to ten times. On the other hand, I found quite a few areas where the offering needs to be improved. The overall payout is below par, especially for football bettors. The absence of a Live Chat is notable and deposit limits are low. In addition, having to move your funds manually from poker to sports is a little annoying. All in all, the betting offering is not great. I would use it mainly as complementary to the poker section.
