Bet365 & Betfred owners belong to UK’s top 3 taxpayers

bookmakers-logo Bet365 CEO Denise Coates and her family have topped the British taxpayer list, for a second year in a row. According to the recently published UK Tax List 2021, that covers tax liability for 2020; Coates and her family paid £573m in taxes for 2020.

The third place in the list is covered by Betfred owners Fred and Peter Done. Their wealth in 2020 has been estimated at £1.2bn; therefore, they paid £191.3m in taxes during this period.

In the meantime, the Bet365 owners' wealth was documented as being worth £7.17bn.

It is worth noting that in April 2020, Coates also awarded a £10m grant to the University Hospitals of North Midlands through her charity foundation.

However, it is also worth mentioning, that there was a change in the tax list’s methodology this year; that now counts gambling duties paid by betting businesses.

The previous year, Bet365’s owners paid £276m in tax, which has more than doubled this year.
