A huge and most surprising move has been made from the William Hill board, which has announced an unexpected change in the brand’s leadership. As the statement announced, Philip Bowcock is not in charge any more, after 4 years of being the Hill’s CEO. The latter is going to continue at his position until the end of the current month and afterwards, the previously William Hill Chief Digital Officer and former President and Chief Executive Officer of Betsson AB, Mr Ulrik Bengtsson will be the one to lead the globally popular betting giant.
Of course, Philip Bowcock is going to provide his assistance to the company in this transitional period. As the announcement continued, this move was planned and a part of the company’s strategic aim of being “a digitally-led and internationally diverse gambling company.”. Mr Roger Devlin, who is the Chairman of William Hill plc, spoke highly of Bowcock’s contribution to the brand for the latest four years and the fact that the latter created a great team which helped the brand be currently in a great shape of business nowadays.
Regarding Bengtsson’s appointment, he told that the Board is more than happy to have him in that role, thanks to the great work the experienced executive has done for the Group’s digital operations for 18 months. In overall, the board believes in Bengtsson’s capabilities and is regarded as the most suited person to lead the company for the next phase of growth.
