Bet365’s online betting site officially launched in Mexico

The world-famous gambling operator Bet365 has officially launched its Mexico-based online betting site under the Bet365.mx domain. The website’s official debut took place with the approval of the Dirección General de Juegos y Sorteos (DGJS), which is a department of the country’s Ministry of the Interior (SEGOB), tasked with supervising all gambling activity.

The local Mexican partner of Bet365’s new site is the Mexico City-based company Ganador Azteca (Aztec Winner), which is a spin-off of the multimedia corporation TV Azteca; the country’s second-largest media group behind Televisa.

In September 2018, TV Azteca was given a 25-year long gambling license with which it opened one land-based casino in Veracruz. With the same license, the company was also allowed to run a single gambling site. Nonetheless, that particular license was modified in November 2018 in order to allow the company to operate independently or in association with other operators, various sites. During the same month, the license was modified once again so as to establish Bet365.mx as the domain through which TV Azteca was about to serve Mexican punters.

Mexico officially allows international online gambling operators to operate within its borders, provided that they partner up with a local company. Nevertheless, it is worth noting that the country’s gambling laws have not been formally updated since 1947.

The launch of Bet365’s new Mexican betting site came within the framework of its expansion in the gambling market of Central and Latin America. Earlier this month, the UK-based operator agreed on a partnership with Argentina’s bingo operator, Pasteko, so as to bid on an online license in the state of Buenos Aires.
