Kansspeautoriteit (KSA), the Netherlands Gambling Authority, has announced that as many as 79 gaming operators have expressed their interest in receiving one of the country’s new online licenses. All of them have already filled out the official online form located on the regulator’s website and proved that they are eager to get one of the coveted gambling licenses.
The names of the 79 companies that have already applied for the permits have not been disclosed by the KSA, nonetheless, many big brands of the industry have admitted that they are planning to do so. The Dutch regulator has announced that the deadline for expression of interest by the companies is on June 21. It has also stated that the country’s new regulated market is not expected to come into effect until January 1st 2021.
It is worth noting that according to a recent study on gambling brand awareness, that was conducted by Gaming in Holland, there were some online gambling brands that ranked quite high. More specifically, Kindred Group’s Unibet received the highest score with 24%, while GVC Holdings’ Bwin got the second highest score with 12%. Those two were followed by GVC’s Ladbrokes with 11%, by Bet365 with 8% and by The Stars Group’s PokerStars also with 8%.
