Spelinspektionen punishes Betway with fines on bonus violations

17 May 2019

Swedish regulator fines BetwaySpelinspektionen does not seem to tolerate non-compliance on bonus regulations. The latest example is Betway and Mandalorian Technologies that did not respect the bonus policies set by the Swedish Gambling Authority and were thus fined. According to clear instructions given by the regulator, licensed operators are allowed to provide players with only one bonus. The aforementioned companies though were found to have disregarded that rule, offering more than one bonuses after the welcome bonus.

What followed is a SEK 5,000,000 fine for Betway together with an official reprimand for non-compliance. Mandalorian Technologies, on the other hand, seemed to have been hit even more intensely by the SEK 9,000,000 fine that was imposed for the same reason. The investigation on the case was carried out by the Gaming Inspectorate, which imposed the fines as well.

Following this latest development, representatives of the Swedish Gambling Authority emphasized the reason why the new bonus policy was introduced in the first place, which was to prevent players from being forced to play repeatedly through bonus schemes and other such initiatives. All license holders were informed of all the latest legislative developments in February, and as a result lack of knowledge was not the reason here.

BOOK SPY BONUS REVIEW

Betway has been around the corner for more than 10 years, but they had to change their strategy in order to alter their image. After their first ups and downs, nowadays they are considered a solid group and bookie. They turned their attention exclusively towards regulated markets, enhanced their product, and are members of important organisations like IBAS and ESSA, proving that security and transparency come first. The odds and total sports offering could be easily be compared to popular bookies. I feel satisfied with the mobile app and website speed and response, and with the fact that the CS is war-ready 24/7. Although I want to see them improving their in-play odds, adding Asian lines and expanding at even more European countries, they surely are a book worthwhile of your time.
