West Virginia sports betting is now legal

3 Sep 2018

West-virginia-sports-bettingSports betting has now gone legal in West Virginia as they join the ranks of New Jersey, Delaware and the state of Nevada. Local political authorities take great pride in the system that has been put in place to regulate the sports betting industry in West Virginia, even promoting it as a model for other states for their regulatory needs.

The significant legislative change will be celebrated through a sports book event taking place at Hollywood casino during the Charles Town Races in Jefferson County, just in time for the beginning of the College American Football season. However, an unofficial inauguration event has already taken place, at which Delegate Jason Barrett put down the first ever bet on the on the West Virginia Mountaineers for the national championship. Barrett was visibly enthusiastic with the way the legislation framework has been implemented in West Virginia and Pennsylvania.

West Virginia MetroNews published estimates from trusted legislation sources that they expect revenue from sports betting in the first year of the new framework to rise to $5.5m. Licensing fees for the operation of the five casinos in West Virginia so far stand at $100,000, plus a 10% tax on gross revenue, as shown on receipts issued. The state is the first in the US to allow sports betting with Hollywood casino being the first establishment to offer sportsbook in the region. Hollywood Casino also received the endorsement of William Hill, which has already partnered with 12 operators in West Virginia and Mississippi so far.

Hollywood casino also holds a US first so far for sportsbook services that are ready just in time for the upcoming college football season, with Greenbrier resort casino likely to follow up next.

BOOK SPY BONUS REVIEW

During the early years of online betting, being registered to William Hill’s website was considered a sign of prestige. One of the leading worldwide brands, Will Hill remains stable and secure, always reliable, by carrying the proud tradition of British bookmakers. They have also kept the traditional horse racing and greyhound betting. Football and other sports (especially minor leagues outside Britain) have been massively reworked through the years and are now considered one of their best suites. They remain a traditional choice for every punter, however we would like to see an increase in their limits on some less popular events.
