UKGC asks for the industry’s cooperation

10 Aug 2018

ukgc-strict-finesUKGC doesn’t stop their efforts in keeping the players safe and far from the harmful gambling. Their latest effort is a research regarding which products are apparently more harmful to the players. The UKGC has requested the help of every gambling operator and will gather information to use as part of an extensive research project.

The latter will be coordinated by the Responsible Gambling Strategy Board (RGSB), while it will be commissioned by GambleAware. As it can be understood the info that will help the two Authorities understand how the products and the environments offered in each and every game may affect the players. That is why all operators will have to provide every needed data. The only thing remaining for the research to get underway is to assemble the right research team!

Claire Wyllie, who acts as the director of research commissioning at GambleAware commented on the project: “GambleAware is pleased to be working with the Gambling Commission and the Responsible Gambling Strategy Board on a project that will help us to better understand gambling behaviour across different products and to know what characteristics are most strongly associated with harm - focusing on the online sector in the first phase and moving onto other sectors in subsequent phases. For the first time, we will be able to look comprehensively across the gambling industry to understand where the risk of harm lies and by making data available to researchers, the industry can gain new insight”.
