Betsson is considering pulling back from its UK investment and flirting with more “virgin” markets such as Italy and Spain.
The Swedish company went the extra mile promoting its Betsafe brand sportsbook and invested quite a lot on partnerships with Manchester City, Saracens RFC , Tony Bellew and Conor McGregor. Nevertheless, the Return on Investment (ROI) didn’t meet the brand’s goals and expectations.
Pontus Lindwall , Betsson CEO told that investing too much on Betsafe, even though created brand awareness, wasn’t a wise option and revealed the brand’s future openings to other markets.
“The market is crowded and there are many companies that have been there for years. I don’t have the view that we will be a really big player in the market compared to what we are in the Nordics for example,” Lindwall said.
