As you have already read in the bookmakers.bet, William Hill are in preliminary discussions with Crown Resorts for the 62% of CrownBet in an effort to get in the Australian betting market.
According to latest information, another giant UK bookmaker, Paddy Power Betfair, is interested in CrownBet .
The company has already a leading role in Australian gambling business. Following the latest reports, there was a rise in the group’s shares to 3,08% in Dublin and 4% in London.
From its own side, the rival bookmaker, William Hill stated about the last week’s speculations. "Following media speculation, William Hill confirms that it is in very preliminary discussions with CrownBet, the 62% owned online wagering business of Crown Resorts, regarding a possible combination of William Hill Australia, a wholly owned subsidiary of William Hill, and CrownBet. However, there is no certainty that these preliminary discussions will lead to any transaction."
These business moves are set to be increased by most of the UK bookmakers, as they want to offset the threat of stricter regulation in UK and there will be further developments after the government’s decision on FOBTs next year.
