A report from the UK Gambling Commission has revealed that the levels in gambling problems remain stable to the first reports that were issued for first time 20 years ago.
This report has confirmed a widely accepted truth: Gambling addiction is not limited to one specific kind of game (slots, roulette, sports betting, poker, blackjack etc).
Identification of Problem Gamblers is Key
Players (especially addicted gamblers) usually will try their hands on more than one product. According to the UKGC analysis, there is not any point at banning a specific product as it will not offer a complete solution. It will just force problematic groups to turn to other games to sate their needs.
The Commission suggests that the betting industry has to better focus on ways of identifying players that run the risk of becoming addicted and encourage them to ask for help from the various support services.
As we speak, betting shops are working towards this direction and are trying to ensure that gamblers remain responsible.
