The Czech Republic iGaming market is set to be a witness to further regulations. Legislators have decided to alter the existing gambling law yet again, after increased complaints about bureaucracy and favoritism coming from foreign operators. This decision was not taken out of the blue, as limited gaming profits and corruption within government circles had also become the centre of increased criticism from the opposition of the Czech Social Democratic Party.

The office of Human Rights Ministry issued the following statement “During the legislative process, the gambling bill underwent several changes as a direct consequence of the gambling lobby’s intervention, which led to particular interests being put above public interests”.
What remains to be seen is when and if the Czech Congress will issue the new directives and how quick will sportsbook and casino operators respond to these changes.
