Hard Rock International is close to making a “revolutionary” move by offering daily fantasy sports to their customers upon opening their brand new casino on 2018.
This action is coming as an addition to the recent developments of other land-based casinos that offer daily fantasy sports. Furthermore, it is projected that it might affect the Garden State’s battle regarding the online betting legalization.
How did Hard Rock Get the License?
Hard Rock made this breakthrough by sending the required documents to the New Jersey Department of Gaming Enforcement.
The “key-phrase” that was buried among legal files and may lead to further development is:
“We would like the ability to host Fantasy Sports. We believe that this will enhance the customer experience and allow the New Jersey Casinos to remain competitive with other jurisdictions that already offer this type of gaming. This proposal has negative impact on gross gaming revenue and should increase (gross gaming) revenue and appeal to Millennials”.
Daily Fantasy Sports are characterized as a grey area for New Jersey Casion Operators. These contests are technically considered legal, meaning that they can also be offered by land based casinos.
Other casinos are likely to put pressure on New Jersey lawmakers in order to create a final bill that would legalize DFS contests in casinos in the entire state.
If this comes to happen, it will also have a great impact in New Jersey’s effort to legalize sports betting.
