Yet another breakthrough from one of the most innovative iGaming operators in the world. Starting from Tuesday 13 June, Betfair will be the first to offer markets on the latest craze, Drone Racing.
The Allianz World Championship taking place at the Alexandra Palace in London will be the first ever event of the Drone Racing League where punters will be able to place their bets. The main markets are similar to other racing events like the Moto GP and Formula 1.
Is Drone Racing the Next Thing?
Stephan Mault, Head of Marketing on Betfair commented that: "This is a great opportunity and we're excited to see how a partnership like this will play out for us in the future given the rise in popularity of the sport of drone racing. Innovation and technology are the lifeblood of everything we do at Betfair and we are committed to constantly finding ways of enhancing and improving the experience of our customers."
Drone Racing League CEO Nicholas Horbaczewski said: “Drone racing is a sport made for betting. It combines the raw thrill of short track racing with the complexity and strategy of motor sports. The Allianz World Championship race will be the first time a live audience will see the thrill of professional drone racing up close, and the inclusion of betting will make it that much more exciting for fans. We're so excited to be able to bring this experience to drone racing with Paddy Power Betfair, a global leader in betting."

When it was established back in 2000, the Betfair betting exchange revolutionized online gambling. It gave bettors the ability to compete against each other based on a poker or stock exchange model. Players can bet with very high limits and also cover their wagers with more fair conditions compared to the Cash Out feature that traditional bookmakers offer. Professional bettors can use the exchange as a tool to follow market trends and sell their bets. The high liquidity almost guarantees that your bets will be traded. Betfair is up-to-date with the latest features, like Bet Builder and Request a Bet, and added a fixed-odds section, too. However, the sportsbook payout is below par. Although the market depth in the exchange is huge, it is not as it once was. The liquidity of less popular sports and leagues has decreased dramatically due to the inability of some countries to regulate the betting exchanges, which forced Betfair to exit strategic markets. Moreover, the commission fees are relatively steep compared to other exchanges, such as Matchbook or Smarkets. There are additional charges if you are a very successful trader. Overall, if you are looking to bet on the exchange, then Betfair is unrivalled to any other company.
