USA – New Jersey congressman aims to legalize sports betting

29 May 2017

Frank Pallone, a New Jersey Congressman has filed the GAME (Gaming Accountability and Modernization) act, that is sure to shake the US betting market. It aims to repeal the sports betting ban has been in effect since 1992.

The GAME act is set to legalize sports betting in the entirety of the USA, similarly to Delaware, Nevada and New Jersey, who currently allow both online and offline sports wagering.

Despite the current federal ban, Americans are still punting about 400$ billion each year on sports. According to Pallone, the time has come for the United States of America to recognize that the current laws are outdated. Furthermore, he believes that the GAME act will increase transparency, integrity and consumer protection among the US bettors.

The Gaming Accountability and Modernization proposition has been welcomed by representatives of the NBA and NCAA, who believe that the licensing system, will greatly benefit both American punters and the various professional and amateur leagues.
