The gambling sector in Sweden has risen to new heights as it managed to amount a total turnover of 540€ million in the first quarter of 2017. This increase has been primarily attributed to online gaming as betting sites showed continuous growth, contrary to land based operators.
Sweden's gambling market has offered the following stats:
- Lotteriinspektionen, Sweden’s gaming regulator, stated that foreign operators saw an increase of 13% in turnover in Q1, whilst Swedish-licensed bookies suffered a loss of 3%.
- ATG has announced that revenue reached around €90m in Q1 2017. Internet games showed an increase of 10%, while land based shops dipped 11%.
- Svenska Postkodföreningen’s revenue rose by 3% to €62m, whilst Folkspel, with Bingolotto and Sverigelotten, decreased by 10% compared to Q1 2016.
