A Swedish top flight match between rivals IFK Gothenburg and AIK Stockholm has been postponed over match fixing allegations. According to the SvFF an unnamed AIK player was offered money in order to underperform in the specific match.
The Swedish Football Federation (SvFF) published a statement saying: "The attempt to rig the Allsvenska match between IFK Gothenburg and AIK took place on Tuesday. The AIK player was called to a meeting at which he was offered a substantial amount in compensation - if he actively contributed to the club losing this evening's scheduled match."
The Federation decided to postpone the match believing that the "security of the match" had been compromised, as they claim that every match should only be decided on the sporting grounds. Finally, the specific AIK player has been banned from talking to the media until further notice.
