Online betting has taken a grip on Aussies, as according to UBS analyst Matt Ryan, two thirds of all bets placed, are done so over the internet. The results were taken from the six month period between 30/6/2016 to 31/12/2016.
What Does the Report State?
- Desktop and mobile wagering amounted for 65% of all betting turnover
- Digital turnover was up 23% for Q3 & Q4 compared to 2015
- Retail wagering went up 6% for the same time period
What is even more impressive, is that online wagering went up, despite the in-play app ban that was implemented in September. It is worth mentioning that live betting was extremely popular with bettors, with some operators in Australia claiming that the mobile app had tripled in play betting revenue.
