Spain is raking in all time high revenues on its online gaming market, as players bet at a frenzied pace during last year.
Specifically, according to the Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling, Gross Gambling Revenues went up at a 32.6% rate for the operators, who managed to take 125.5€ during the fourth quarter of 2016. Sports betting took the lion's share on last years total gaming revenues and amounted for 69.8€ billion, representing 55% of the total market.
Casino games generated 36€ million on Q4, while poker took in as much as 15.2€. Bingo and lottery games are represented at 2%, for a total of 2.2€ million.
Additionally, there was a 10% increase to new online players, amounting to 598.000. Existing gamblers also had the most significant presence as of yet, with an increase of 17.3% to active players, compared to Q4 2015.
It seems like patience and money have paid off for local licensed betting sites like bet365 and 10bet, who have lately invested heavily on a more direct marketing approach.
